Descendants of Thomas Cathro

Note:  All of the names and dates of the first two generations of the Cathro family have been provided through the tireless research of Susie Lynn, descendant of William2 Cathro.  Thank you very much Susie.   

Generation No. 1

1.  THOMAS1 CATHRO married HELEN BUTTER.  Thomas is in the records at Mill of Omachie, just north of Manifieth, Scotland.  Helen Butter, b. 1755, at Burn of Auchinleck (now called Affleck), in Monikie Parish - just east of Monifieth Parish.  Helen is the daughter of James Butter and Isobel Cargill.

Generation No. 2

2.  ISABELLA2 CATHRO married WILLIAM GREWER (an agricultural labourer).  She died at Newbigging in Tealing Parish - to the west of Monifieth Parish, Scotland.  

3.  ALEXANDER2 (THOMAS1) CATHRO married ANN MILL May 27, 1825.  According to the OPR of Carmyllie, "Alexander Cathro and Ann Mill, both of this parish were matrimonially contracted and thereafter married...".  ANN is the daughter of John Milne and Elizabeth Arbuthnot.

Alexander Cathro was a Miller at Milltown of Connon 1828.  
Census 1841:  Parish of Barry: Nethermill - Alexander Cathro, age 40, Millar; Ann Cathro, age 35; **Alexander Cathro, age 20, Millar (not born here);  William Cathro, age 13.  (**Alexander Cathro is assumed to be a nephew)

4. WILLIAM3 (ALEXANDER2, THOMAS1) CATHRO was born March 25, 1828, and baptized March 30, 1828, in Carmyllie Parish, Scotland.  He married HELEN YOUNG November 28, 1851 in Carmyllie Parish, County of Forfar, Scotland.

5. ALEXANDER4 (WILLIAM3,ALEXANDER2, THOMAS1) CATHRO was born Abt. 1855 in Scotland, and died 1936 in Scotland. He married SARAH THOMSON December 31, 1879 in 11 Carntyne Street, Shettleston, Lanark, Scotland, daughter of WILLIAM THOMPSON and MARY CATHCART.  She was born Abt. 1859 in Scotland, and died 1915 in Royal Infirmary, Glasgow, Scotland.

8. WILLIAM5 (ALEXANDER4, WILLIAM3,ALEXANDER2, THOMAS1) CATHRO was born July 21, 1882 in Glasgow, Scotland, and died November 06, 1961 in Milton, Scotland. He married MARGARET ALICE MERRILEES June 18, 1907 in Shettleston, Glasgow, Scotland. She was the daughter of JOHN MERRILEES and CATHERINE THOMSON. She was born July 21, 1885 in Wishaw, Scotland, and died May 06, 1956 in Glasgow, Scotland.

10. WILLIAM6 (WILLIAM5, ALEXANDER4, WILLIAM3,ALEXANDER2, THOMAS1) CATHRO was born September 13, 1915 in Glasgow, Scotland, and died December 21, 1997 in Philadelphia, PA. He married ELIZABETH MCALPINE FRASER April 15, 1936 in Clydebank, Scotland. She was born July 02, 1914 in Glasgow, Scotland, and died February 16, 1980 in Philadelphia, PA.
